Removal of Formaldehyde from Air Using Modified Bone Char
[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Formaldehyde(CH2O)isoneofthetoxicvolatileorganiccompoundswhichmustberemovedfrompollutedair.Oneofthetechniquesavailabletoremoveisbyuseofadsorbents.Theaimofthisstudywastoevaluatethecharacteristicsandadsorptioncapacityofmodifiedblackbonechar(BBC)onCH2Ovapor.SubjectsandMethods:InthisexperimentalresearchtwotypesofBBCadsorbents(nomalandmodified)wereproduced.SpecificsurfaceareaandporevolumeoftheadsorbentmaterialsweredeterminedusingtheBrunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)surfacearea.Theadsorbentsstructureswereanalyzedusingscanningelectronmicroscopy.ThecompositionofBBCandmodifiedBBCwereanalyzedbyenergydispersiveX-ray(EDX)measurement.ToinvestigatebreakthroughcharacteristicsandadsorptioncapacityaccordingtoinletconcentrationofCH2Oonbonechars,adsorptionexperimentswerecarriedoutat25±1oCunderthesameconditions.Results:ThespecificsurfaceareaandporevolumeformodifiedBBC(118.58m2/gand0.374cm3/g)werehigherthanforBBC(105.24m2/gand0.367cm3/g).TheEDXanalysisshowedthatamountofcalciumofthemodifiedBBCwaslessthanthatofBBC.TheresultsalsoshowedthatmeanvalueofequilibriumtimeofmodifiedBBCwaslongerthanthatofBBC(Plt;0.05).Moreover,themeanvalueofadsorptioncapacityofmodifiedBBCwashigherthanthatofBBC(Plt;0.05).Conclusion:ThemodificationofblackbonecharpromotesporosityandadsorptioncapacityandcanincreasetheremovalefficiencyofCH2Oinair.
