Effects of Zinc Supplementation on Glycemic Control in Patients with Type 1 Diabetes
[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Formanyyears,alargenumberofstudiesshowedthatzinchasmajorroleinbiosynthesis,storageandfunctionofinsulin.Theaimofthisstudyisassessmentofeffectsofzincsupplementationonglycemiccontrolinpatientswithtype1diabetesSubjectsandMethods:Bodymassindex(BMI),serumlevelsofzincandHbA1cof29patientswithtype1diabetesatbaselineweremeasured.Thenpatientsreceived50mg/dayelementalzincfor3months.AttheendofthetreatmentperiodserumlevelsofzincandHbA1cwereinvestigatedagain.Results:Aftertreatment,meanserumzincleveldidnotdiffersignificantlywithbeforelevels.ButthemeanHbA1clevelsfrom8.5±.7reachedto8.1±.7aftertreatmentwithzincsupplementation(Plt;.001).HbA1clevelsdecreasemainlyoccuredinwomenwithaBMIlt;25andmenwithBMIgt;25.AsThehighertheBMI,thepercentageofreductioninHbA1clevelwaslower.Conclusion:TheresultsofthisstudysuggestthatadministrationofzinccanreducethelevelsofHbA1cinpatientswithtype1diabetes.However,thiseffectsisdependentuponbothgenderandBMIofthepatient.
