The Effect of Two Weight Loss Protocols on Plasma Concentration of Agouti Related Peptide (AgRP) in Elite Wrestlers

[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:AgRPisapowerfulorexigenicpeptidewhichissecretedbythearcuatenucleusofthehypothalamus,andplaysanimportantroleinweightcontrol.Theaimofthepresentstudywastocomparetheeffectoftwoweightlossprotocols(1.aresearcherrecommendedweightlossprotocol,2.Traditionalweightlossprotocol)onrestingplasmaconcentrationofAgRPinelitwrestlers.SubjectsandMethods:Thirtyelitewrestlers(age24.33±3.33years,BMI24.90±2.38Kg.m2andbodyfatpercentage12.92±3.01)wererandomlydividedintothreegroups(twoexperimentalgroupsandonecontrolgroup).ExperimentalgroupI:usedatwelve-daydietprotocolwhichwassuggestedbyresearchers,alongwiththreewrestlingexercisesessionsonaweek.ExperimentalgroupІІ:usedtraditionaldietprotocolandsauna,andcontrolgroupwaswithoutdietprotocol.Bloodsampleswerecollectedbeforeand12-hoursaftertheprotocols.Subject’spercentofbodyfatwasmeasuredusingthe3-pointmethod.Results:Boththeexperimentalgroupshadasignificantweightreduction(Pgt;0.001).TheexperimentalgroupIshowedsignificantlyreductioninpercentofbodyfat(Pgt;0.001).ThelevelsofplasmaAgRPincreasedintheexperimentalgroupII(Pgt;0.01).Conclusion:Thetwelve-dayweightlossprotocolismoreeffectivethanthetraditionalweightlossprotocol.NotonlyitdidnothaveasignificanteffectonAgRPlevel,italsodecreasedbodyfatpercentage.
