The Effect of Acupressure on Severity of Pain in Arthritis Rheumatoid Patient
[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Rheumatoidarthritispatientshaveidentifiedpainasadistressingsymptomthatinterferetheirabilitytoenjoylifeandtotakecareofthemselves.Thepurposeofthestudywastoassesstheeffectofacupressureonpainintensityinrheumatoidarthritispatients.SubjectsandMethods:Thisisaclinicaltrialstudy.ThedatawerecollectedfromtheclinicofrheumatologyofGolestanhospitalinAhvaz,physician’sprivatesurgeryandpatient’shome.Regardingtheobjectivesofthestudy,60patientswererandomlydividedintotwoacupressureandcontrolgroups.ThemainoutcomesmeasuredwerethedemographicformandVASscalethatwerecollectedatfirstandlastinterventionsessions.Acupressurewasaaccomplishedwithdirectfingerpressureat1minuteinHegu,Quchi,ZusanliandTaichongin12sessions,controlgroupdidnotreceivedcomplementarytreatment.ThedatawereanalyzedwithSPSSversion17andpairedt-testtest.Results:Therewasnotasignificantdifferencebetweentheaveragesofpainintensityinacupressureandcontrolgroupsatpre-andpost-treatment(P=0.813).Conclusion:Despitelackofsignificanteffectsofacupunctureontheseverityofpaininrheumatoidarthritispatients,furtherresearchinthefieldofacupressureisrecommended.
