The Prevalence of Dysphagia in Patients of Educational Hospitals in the City of Ahvaz in the Second Half 2010
[摘要] ackgroundObjective:Dysphagiareferstoanydisturbanceinmovementoffoodbolusfrommouthtostomachthatisduetoneurologicalmotordisorderofswallowingprocesses.Since,aspeechandlanguagepathologistisanactivememberofthemedicalteamassessingandtreatingpatientswithdysphagia,knowledgeofbasicinformationaboutprevalenceandetiologyofdysphagiaseemsnecessaryforplanningofrehabilitationprograms.SubjectsMethods:Inthisretrospectivedescriptivestudy,1860medicalprofilesofhospitalizedpatientsofeducationalhospitalsinthecityofAhvazwererandomlyselected.BytheuseofNDPCSchecklist,dataregardingexistenceornonexistenceofdysphagia,etiologyofdysphagia,prevalenceofdysphagiaindifferentageandsex,accompanyingspeechdisorders,andprevalenceofdysphagiaindifferentwardsofthestudiedhospitalswererecordedandenteredintoSPSSsoftwareforanalysis.Results:4.2%oftotalpatientshaddysphagia(4%male,4.5%female).Nosignificantdifferencewasobservedbetweensexesregardingprevalenceofdysphagia(Pgt;0.05).Neurologicdiseaseswerethemostfrequentcausesofdysphagia.Malesagedbetween0-10yearshadthehighestdysphagiarate.Thehighestandlowestdysphagiarateswereobservedinneurologywardandinternalmedicinewardofthestudiedhospitals.Conclusion:Thefindingofthisstudysuggestthatspeechtherapiststopaymoreattentiontoage,commonetiologyandhospitalwardswithhigherdysphagiarateanditisrecommendedtouseearlyinterventionsfordysphagia.
