The Comparison of Hyaluronic Acid Vaginal Suppository with Vitamin on maturation of vaginal epithelium in Menopausal Women

[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Followinghotflashes,thesecond,mostcommonandbothersomemenopausalcomplaintisvaginalatrophy.Thissymptomscausesvaginalorvulvardryness,dyspareunia,vaginismusoritchingthatcansignificantlyaffectqualityoflife.TheaimofthisstudywastocomparetheeffectivenessofvaginalperssariedcontainingsodiumhyaloronateorvitaminEforthetreatmentofatrophicvaginitis.SubjectsandMethods:Thisrandomized,double-blindclinicaltrialstudywascarriedoutat17Shahrivarhealthcenter(aneducationalcenterinAhvaz,Iran)fromAugusttoDecember2010.Fortypostmenopausalwomenwithsymptomsofvaginalatrophywererandomizedintwogroupstoadministervaginalperssariesof5mgsodiumhyaloronate(n=20)or1mgvitaminE(n=20)for8weeks.Vaginalmaturationwasmeasuredandcomparedinbothgroups.Thedatawereanalyzedusingindependentt-testandPairedttest,inSPSSversion16.0.P-valueslessthan0.05wereconsideredstatisticallysignificant.Results:Theresultsshowedthatthevaginalmaturationvaluesweresignificantlyimprovedatbothtreatmentgroups(Plt;0.001).However,themeanmaturationvalueinsodiumhyaluronategroupwassignificantlyhigherwhencomparedwithvitaminEgroup(Plt;0.001).Conclusion:SodiumhyaluronateandvitaminEincreasedmaturationofvaginalepithelium,butimprovementwasgreaterinsodiumhyaluronategroup.Therefore,sodiumhyaluronatevaginalpessaryissuggestedasanulternativeinwomenwhodonotwanttoorcannotuseestrogentreatmentofvaginalatrophy.
