An Epidemiologic Assessment of Cellulitis Resulting in Complication the Patients Admitted to Infectious Diseases Ward of Ahvaz Razi Hospital 2001-2004

[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Cellulitisisanacuteinfectionofcutaneousandsubcutaneoustissue.Inaccuratetreatmentofcellulitiscancauseimportantcomplicationslikeabscess,myositis,osteomyelitis,bacteremia,septicemia,endocarditis,meningitis,andothercomplicationsandcanleadtodeath.Theaimofthisstudywastoassesstheepidemiologyofcellulitisthatresultincomplicationamongin-patientsininfectiousdiseasesward.SubjectsandMethods:ThepopulationofthestudyincludedallpatientsadmittedwithfinaldiagnosisofcellulitisintheinfectiouswardofAhvazRazihospitalduring2001-2003.Regardingvariablesunderstudy(age,sex,occupationandunderlyingdiseases),therelationbetweencomplicationscausedinrelationtoeachofthecomplicationsandthesevariableswereassessed.DatawereanalyzedbySPSS-15andusingdescriptiveandanalyticalstatisticalmethodsandchi-squaredtestwithPlt;0.05wasconsideredsignificant.Results:Inthisstudy,oftotally230cases,150caseswerestudied.Theresultswereincluding:25%oftotalpatientsencounteredwithcomplications,18.7%ofcomplicationswereabscess,3.3%ofcomplicationswerenecrotizingfaciiatis,0.7%ofcomplicationsweresepsisand2.7%ofcomplicationswereosteomyelitis.Therewasnotsignificantrelationshipbetweentotalcellulitiscomplicationswithvariablessuchas:age,sex,job,immunosuppressivedisease,consumptionimmunosuppressivedrugsandnarcoticsinjectioninpatientwhiletherewassignificantrelationbetweentotalcomplicationsandtotalincomingtrauma,andbitehistory.Conclusion:Thesignificantrelationshipbetweencomplicationsofcellutitisandthetwovariablesoftraumaandhistoryofanimalbitingsuggest,forbettermanagementofthesepatients,morecarefulassessmentiswarranted.
