A new species of the tetralophodont amebelodontine Konobelodon Lambert, 1990 (Proboscidea, Mammalia) from the Late Miocene of China
[摘要] HerewedescribeanewspeciesofKonobelodonLambert,1990—apoorlyknowntetralophodontshovel-tuskedproboscidean—fromtheLateMioceneoftheLinxiaBasin,China.Detailedosteologicalanatomiesofskulls,teeth,andpartialpostcranialbonesofthenewtaxon,Konobelodonrobustusn.sp.,aredescribedanddetailedmorphologicalcomparisonswiththeotherspeciesofKonobelodon(K.atticus(Wagner,1857)=Mastodongrandincisivus,Schlesinger1917,andK.britti(Lambert,1990))andothergomphotheresareconducted.Theskullandjaw-closingmusclesofajuvenileindividualofthenewspeciesarereconstructedandthebodymassisestimatedbasedonitslimbbones.PhylogeneticanalysisofgenerawithinElephantimorpharesultsinthreemostparsimonioustrees,ofwhichtwosupportasister-grouprelationshipbetweenKonobelodonandPlatybelodon,withinamonophyleticAmebelodontinae.ThenewresultsenhanceourknowledgeontheanatomyandphylogenyofKonobelodon,andindicatepronounceddiversificationandstrongparallelevolutionintheamebelodontines.
