[摘要] TodeterminethestartofthebreedingseasonofCommonWoodpigeonColumbapalumbusinFlanders,thegonadsof185adultWoodpigeonswereexamined.AnalysisoftestissizeshowedthatmaleWoodpigeonsbecamesexuallyactiveinMarch.FolliclesizeanalysisindicatedthatthefirstfemaleWoodpigeonsbecamesexuallyactivefromtheendofFebruaryonwards.TheobservationshoweverindicatedanoverallstartofthebreedingseasononapopulationlevelbylateMarch/earlyApril.
