Trends in Abundance of Migrating Raptors at Gibraltar in Spring
[摘要] RaptormigrationhasbeenmonitoredregularlyatGibraltarsincethemid-1960s.Long-termtrendsinabundanceofspringmigrationwereinvestigatedforthetenmostfrequentspecies,fiveofwhichchangedsignificantlyinabundanceduringthestudyperiod.BlackKitesMilvusmigrans,EurasianSparrowhawksAccipiternisusandBootedEaglesHieraaetuspennatusincreased.ThetrendsforthesethreespeciescorrespondwiththoseobservedelsewhereinwesternEurope.EuropeanHoney-buzzardsPermsapivorusandCommonBuzzardsButeobuteo,whosewesternEuropeanpopulationsaredescribedasstable,bothdecreased.ForCommonBuzzardsatleastthisdiscrepancyappearstorepresentashiftinwinteringdistribution,possiblyasaresultofclimatechange,withpopulationsthatwinteredformerlyinNorthAfricanowwinteringclosertotheirbreedinggrounds.
