Post-Fledging Movements of Cinereous Vultures Aegypius monachus in Turkey Revealed by GPS Telemetry
[摘要] Westudiedthemovements,homerangesandroostsitepreferencesofthreefirst-yearCinereousVulturesAegypiusmonachusaftertheyfledgedattheTürkmenbabaMountains,Eskiehir,westernTurkey.Wecapturedchicksatthenestin2009and2010andfittedthemwithGPS-GSMtransmitters.Afterfledging,wereceivedatotalof993locationsfromallbirdsduring105–148daysoftracking.Trackedbirdsinitiallyusedsmallforagingareas,coveringamean90%kernelhomerangeof356±134SEkm2,andonaveragemovedlt;10kmperday.Astheystartedtomigrate,dailymovementsincreasedto59.3–120.3kmonaverageandtookplacelargelyduringmidday.Birdspreferredtoroostatsiteswithhigheraltitude,steeperslopeandmorewoodedland.OurdatasuggestthatfirstyearbirdsfromTurkeydispersesouthinOctoberandNovembertodeserthabitatsinmiddlelatitudeArabia,andmaycoverupto2765kmduringmigration.
