Partial Incubation During the Egg-Laying Period in the Blackcap Sylvia atricapilla

[摘要] Partialincubationreferstoshortboutsofincubationduringtheegglayingperiod.Ideterminedtheoccurrenceofpartialincubationanditsassociationwiththenumberofeggsinthenestatitsonset,intheBlackcapSylviaatricapilla.Additionally,Istudiedtherelationshipsbetweentheoccurrenceofpartialincubationatagivennumberofeggs,airtemperatureandtimeofday.Ateachstageofegg-laying,twonestchecksweredoneeachdaytoestablishiftheclutchwasincubated,until5eggswerelaid;inthisstudy,aclutchoffivewasacompleteclutch.Incubationofone-,two-,three-andfour-eggclutcheswasobservedin0.0%,34.2%,72.2%and95.8%ofthenestchecks,respectively.Ofthetwodailychecks,incubationwasobservedonlyoncein51.8%,37.0%and8.3%oftwo-,three-andfour-eggclutches,respectively,fornestswithconfirmedincubation.Therewasnorelationshipbetweeneitherairtemperatureorthetimeofthenestcheckandwhetherornotaclutchwasincubated.Asignificantincreaseintemperatureoftheeggsoccurredonlyafterthefourtheggwaslaid.
