Observations of Ammonia in External Galaxies II. Maffei 2
[摘要] Theammonia(J,K)=(1,1),(2,2),(3,3),and(4,4)transitionsinthe23.7−24.1GHzregionweresearchedinanearbygalaxy,Maffei2,tostudytherelationbetweenthemolecularabundancesandthephysicalconditionsingalaxies.The(1,1),(2,2),and(3,3)emissionlineswereclearlydetected.Theobtainedrotationaltemperaturesandortho-to-paraabundanceratiosareabout30Kandabout2.6,respectively.TheabundanceofNH3relativetoH2inMaffei2wasfoundtobethelargestamonggalaxieswhereNH3hasalreadybeendetected,andtheabundanceinMaffei2ismorethananorderofmagnitudelargerthanthealreadyreportedupperlimitinM82.Hence,wefurtherconfirmedthesystematicallypeculiarmolecularabundanceregardingtheformationmechanismsofmoleculesalreadyreportedinM82.
