Is the Evolutionary Outcome of Algol-Type Systems T Leonis Minoris and RW Monocerotis the W UMa Systems?
[摘要] ThevariationsoftheorbitalperiodsoftwoAlgol-typeeclipsingbinaries,TLMiandRWMon,arepresentedthroughadetailedanalysisof$$(O-C)$$diagrams.Itisfoundthat,apartfromaseculardecrease,severalsuddenjumpshaveoccurredintheorbitalperiodsofbothbinarysystems.Theperioddecreaseratewasderivedtobe$$-1.12imes10^{-8}$$d/cycleand$$-$$1.456$$imes$$10$$^{-9}$$d/cycleforTLMiandRWMon,respectively.Suchalargerateisimpossiblyexplainedbyangularmomentumlossandmasslossduetomagneticstellarwinds.Thesuddenjumpsintheorbitalperiodsofbothstarsmightbecausedbyarapidmassexchangebetweenthecircumstellarmatterandbinaries.Atlast,theevolutionarytrendofthetwoAlgol-typesystems,whoseperiodsdecreasedcontinuously,isdiscussed.TheirevolutionaryoutcomemightbeWUMastars.
