Near-Infrared Polarimetry of the Eagle Nebula (M 16)
[摘要] Wecarriedoutdeepandwide($$sim$$8$$^{prime}imes^{prime}$$8)$$JHK_{ms}$$imagingpolarimetryinthesouthernregionoftheEagleNebula(M16).ThepolarizationintensitymaprevealsthattwoYSOswithnear-IRreflectionnebulaearelocatedatthetipsoftwofamousmolecularpillars(Pillars1and2)facingtowardtheexcitingstarsofM16.ThecentrosymmetricpolarizationpatternareconsistentwiththosearoundClassIobjectshavingcircumstellarenvelopes,confirmingthatstarformationisnowtakingplaceatthetwotipsofthepillarsundertheinfluenceofUVradiationfromtheexcitingstars.Polarizationmeasurementsofpointsourcesshowthatmagneticfieldsarealignedalongsomeofthepillars,butinadirectionthatisquitedifferenttotheglobalstructureinM16.
