Hard X-Ray Detector (HXD) on Board Suzaku
[摘要] TheHardX-rayDetector(HXD)onboardSuzakucoversawideenergyrangefrom10 keVto600 keVbythecombinationofsiliconPINdiodesandGSOscintillators.TheHXDisdesignedtoachieveanextremelylowin-orbitbackgroundbasedonacombinationofnewtechniques,includingtheconceptofawell-typeactiveshieldcounter.Withaneffectiveareaof$$142,mathrm{cm}^{2}$$at20 keVand$$273,mathrm{cm}^{2}$$at150 keV,thebackgroundlevelatsealevelreached$$sim1imes10^{-5},mathrm{cts},mathrm{s}^{-1},mathrm{cm}^{-2},mathrm{keV}^{-1}$$at30 keVforthePINdiodes,and$$sim2imes10^{-5},mathrm{cts},mathrm{s}^{-1},mathrm{cm}^{-2},mathrm{keV}^{-1}$$at100 keV,and$$sim7imes10^{-6},mathrm{cts},mathrm{s}^{-1},mathrm{cm}^{-2},mathrm{keV}^{-1}$$at200 keVforthephoswichcounter.TightactiveshieldingoftheHXDresultsinalargearrayofguardcounterssurroundingthemaindetectorparts.Theseanti-coincidencecounters,madeof$$sim4,mathrm{cm}$$thickBGOcrystals,havealargeeffectiveareaforsub-MeVtoMeV$$gamma$$-rays.Theyworkasanexcellent$$gamma$$-rayburstmonitorwithlimitedangularresolution($$sim5^{circ}$$).Theon-boardsignal-processingsystemandthedatatransmittedtothegroundarealsodescribed.
