Monte Carlo Simulator and Ancillary Response Generator of Suzaku XRT/XIS System for Spatially Extended Source Analysis
[摘要] WehavedevelopedaframeworkfortheMonteCarlosimulationsofX-RayTelescope(XRT)andX-rayImagingSpectrometer(XIS)onboardSuzaku,mainlyforthescientificanalysisofspatiallyandspectroscopicallycomplexcelestialsources.Aphoton-by-photoninstrumentalsimulatorisbuiltontheANLplatform,whichhasbeensuccessfullyusedinASCAdataanalysis.Thesimulatorhasamodularstructure,inwhichtheXRTsimulationisbasedonaray-tracinglibrary,whiletheXISsimulationutilizesaspectral“RedistributionMatrixFile”(RMF),generatedseparatelybyothertools.Instrumentalcharacteristicsandcalibrationresults[e.g.,XRTgeometry,reflectivity,mutualalignments,thermalshieldtransmission,build-upofthecontaminationontheXISopticalblockingfilters(OBF)]areincorporatedascompletelyaspossible.MostofthisinformationisavailableintheformofFITS(FlexibleImageTransportSystem)filesinthestandardcalibrationdatabase(CALDB).Thissimulatorcanalsobeutilizedtogeneratean“AncillaryResponseFile”(ARF),whichdescribestheXRTresponseandtheamountofOBFcontamination.AnARFisdependentonthespatialdistributionofthecelestialtargetandthephotonaccumulationregiononthedetector,aswellastheobservingconditions,suchastheobservationdateandsatelliteattitude.WedescribetheprinciplesofthesimulatorandtheARFgenerator,anddemonstratetheirperformancecomparedwithin-flightdata.
