CO Observations of a FeLoBAL Quasar with an Hα $alpha$ Absorption Line at z = 2.3
[摘要] SDSSJ083942.11+380526.3isanIronLow-ionizationBroadAbsorptionLine(FeLoBAL)quasarat$$z=2.3$$,andAokietal.(2006)recentlyfoundthepresenceofanH$$alpha$$absorptionlineinthebroadH$$alpha$$emissionline.Motivatedbyanideathatthisquasarmaybeahugemoleculargasreservoirintheearlyphaseofquasarevolution,wemadeCO($$J=3$$–$$2$$)observationsofitusingtheNobeyamaMillimeterArray.NosignificantCOemissionwasdetected;althoughanemission-likefeature($$2.5sigma$$)wasseenclose($$sim2^{primeprime}$$)tothequasar,weregarditasnoise.Theobtained3$$sigma$$upperlimitontheCOluminosityis$$L^{prime}_{{mCO}(J=3mbox{-}2)}=4.5imes10^{10}$$Kkms$$^{-1}$$pc$$^2$$,whichcorrespondsto$$M({mH}_2)=3.6imes10^{10}M_{odot}$$ifweadoptCO-to-H$$_2$$conversionfactorof0.8$$M_{odot}$$(Kkms$$^{-1}$$pc$$^2)^{-1}$$.Thisupperlimitiscomparableto$$L^{prime}_{{mCO}(J=3mbox{-}2)}$$(andthusthemoleculargasmass)detectedinquasarsandBALquasarsat$$z=1$$-3,andnosignofthepresenceofthehugeamountofmoleculargasinthisFeLoBALquasarwasobtained.
