Benefits of Metformin Combined with Insulin in Children with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.

[摘要] Background::Somepatientswithtype1diabetesmellitushavenotgoodglycaemiccontrolwithordinarydosesofinsulin.Soapplyingothertreatmentmodalityinadditiontoinsulinanddiettherapycouldimproveglycaemiccontrol.Objective::Toevaluatewhether,inpatientswithtype1diabetesmellitus,theadditionofMetformintoinsulinandstandarddiabetesmanagementresultinbetterglycaemiccontrolandlowerinsulindosage.Methods::Inaclinicaltrialstudy16childrenandadolescentswithtype1diabeteswithhadhighinsulinintakeandHbA1c#62;8%wereparticipated.HbA1c,FBS,2hppBG,insulindosageandBMIweremeasuredandcomparedattheonsetandendofthetreatment.Results::ThereweresignificantdifferencesinHbA1candinsulindosagebetweenthetimeof0ofthestudyandafter4monthsofMetforminadditiontherapy.ButtherewerenosignificantdifferencesbetweenBMI,FBGand2hppBGattheonsetofthestudyandendofit.Conclusion::MetformintreatmentloweredHbA1canddecreasedinsulindosageinpatientswithtype1diabetesinpoormetaboliccontrol.Longtermstudieswilldetermineiftheseimprovementsaresustained.
