A Comparative Study on Atorvastatin Versus Methotrexate in Rheumatoid Arthritis in a Double Blind Placebo Control Trial.
[摘要] Background::Thetherapeuticeffectsofmethotrexate(MTX)arewell-knowninrheumatoidarthritis(RA).Also,antiinflammatoryeffectsofatorvastatinhavealreadybeenreported,butnostudyhascomparedtheeffectsofthesetwodrugsonRA.ThereforewedesignedthisstudytocomparetheeffectsofthesedrugsonpatientswithactiveRA.Method::Thestudywasconductedon54patientswithactiveRAwhohadbeenundergoingDisease–Modifying-AntiRheumatic-Drugstherapyforatleast3monthsthatincluded7.5mgmethotrexateweekly.Theywereallocatedintotwogroups.Inadditiontothe7.5mgofMTX,onegroupreceivedanother7.5mgofMTXweeklyandplacebodailyandtheothergroupreceivedatorvastatin40mgdailyandplaceboweekly.Theywerefollowedupfor12weeks.Someclinicalaspectsandthediseaseactivityscore(DAS)wereevaluatedatthebeginningofthestudyandthenattheweeksof6thand12th.Results::Aftermultiplecomparisonsbyrepeatedmeasures,diseaseactivityscoreandothervariablesshowedasignificantreductioninbothgroupsat12thweekaftertreatment;however,theeffectofbothinterventionswassimilarinchangeofDASandothervariablesexceptfordurationofmorningstiffness,thatitdecreasedmoreinstatinthanMTXgroup.Nosignificantsideeffectscausingtoexcludethepatientsfromthestudywereobservedinanyofthetwogroups.Conclusion::weconcludedthatstatin,canserveanimportantroleintreatmentofRA.
