Association of Celiac Disease with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Colonic Cancer and liver Involvement in a Case of -Thalassemia Minor.

[摘要] Introduction::Areviewoftheliteraturesuggestsapotentialassociationbetweenceliacdiseaseandinflammatoryboweldisease(IBD),whichmayexplainwhybothdisordersareoftenpresentconcurrentlyinonepatientorinher/hisfirst-degreerelatives.Inaddition,awidespectrumofliverinjuriesinpatientsmayberelatedtoceliacdisease,including:Reactivehepatitis,autoimmuneliverdiseases,acuteliverfailure,cryptogeniccirrhosisandhepatocellularcarcinoma.Mangiaglietal(2)reportedacaseofceliacdiseaseinanadolescentwiththalassemiamajorcharacterisedbyanorexia,arrestofweightgainandshortstature.AnothercaseofceliacdiseaseandthalassemiamajorwasreportedinastudyperformedbyAcquaviva(1)inItaly.Conclusion::RevealingtheassociationbetweenceliacdiseaseandC-thalassemiahighlightswhyalowthresholdforthediagnosisofceliacdiseaseshouldbeconsideredinC-thalassemiapatientswithahistoryand/orclinicalindicationsthataresuggestiveofceliacdisease.Likewise,itisalsorecommendedthatdiagnosisthresholdsareloweredforthalassemicpatientswhopresentwithshortstature.PatientswithceliacdiseasehaveagreaterpredispositiontoIBDandliverinvolvement.Therefore,wealsorecommendcolonoscopyandscreeningforasymptomaticandsymptomaticliverdiseasesinceliacpatients,aswellasscreeningforceliacdiseaseinallpatientswithIBDandautoimmuneorcryptogenicliverdisorders.
