Occult HBV Infection among Chronic Hepatitis C Patients
[摘要] TransmissionroutsofbothhepatitisBandhepatitisCvirusesaresimilarandinfectionwithbothvirusesiscommon.OcculthepatitisBisanewentityinwhichserumHBsAgisnegativebutHBVDNAisdetectableinserumorlivertissues.InthisstudythefrequencyofocculthepatitisBamongpatientswithchronichepatitisCandalsotheirbiochemicalandhistologicalchangeswereinvestigated.Inthisstudy,27patientswithchronichepatitisCwithnegativeserumHBsAgwereenrolled.ThesepatientshadbeenreferredtoTaleghanihospitalandRCGLD(ResearchCenterforGastroenterologyandLiverDiseases)orTHC(TehranHepatitisCenter)duringyears2001and2002andhadbeenundertakenliverbiopsy.LiverbiopsieswerereviewedandhepatitisBvirus(HBV)DNAandHBsAgandHBcAgwereassayedinlivertissuebypolymerasechainreaction(PCR)andimmunohistochemistry(IHC)respectively.From27chronichepatitisCpatientsstudied,HBVDNAwasdetectablebyPCRin5(19%).ImmunohistochemistryforbothHBcAgandHBsAgwerereportedtobenegativeinallpatients.HistologicalchangesofcirrhosisandsymptomsofdecompensatedcirrhosiswereseenjustinHBVDNApositivepatients.ThisstudyconcludesthatOccultHBVinfectioniscommonamongchronichepatitisCpatients.OcculthepatitisBprobablyacceleratestheevolutiontocirrhosisinpatientswithchronichepatitisC.
