An analysis of gastrointestinal symptoms in causalities of catastrophic earthquake of Bam, Iran

[摘要] Gastrointestinaldiseasesareamongthemostcommonproblemsoccurringduringthepostearthquakeperiod.ThisstudyconductedtodeterminethefrequencyofgastrointestinaldisordersaftertheBamearthquakedisaster.TheinjuredpeopleofBamearthquake,admittedinsomehospitalsofTehran,Yazd,EsfahanandShirazduringthefirst10daysofearthquakewerestudied.Theepidemiologicaldataandgastrointestinalcomplaintswerefulfilledinthequestionnaires.Accordingtothetypeandseverityofthephysicalinjuries,thepatientsweredividedintofourgroups(grade1-4).737injuredpeopleincluding361(%49)maleand376(%51)femalewithmeanageof30±14werestudied.Abdominalpain143(19.4%),nausea167(22.7%),vomiting104(14.1%)andexcessivegas161(21.8%),anorexia287(38.9%),earlysatiety200(27.1%),heartburn188(25.5%),fullness154(20.9%),bloating144(19.5%),distention114(15.5%),belching93(12.6%),regurgitation74(10%),dysphagia34(4.65),diarrhea32(4.3%)constipation200(27.1%),melena24(3.3%),hematemesis10(1.4)andhematochezia5(0.7%).Accordingtothegradeofphysicalinjury,patientsdividedto4groupsasfollow:139(18.9%)patientsingrade1,323(43.8%)patientsingrade2,210(28.5%)grade3patientsinand65(8.8%)patientsingrade4.Excessivegas,abdominalpain,belchinganddysphagiaweresignificantlymoreprevalentamongpatientswithgrade3injury.Anorexia,earlysatiety,distentionandconstipationweresignificantlymoreprevalentamongpatientswithgrade3injury.Asaresult,gastrointestinaldisordersarerelativelyfrequentamonginjuredpeopleofearthquake.Excessivegas,abdominalpain,belchinganddysphagiaweremoreprevalentamongpatientswithgrade3injury.
