A Case Control Study of Acute Leukemia Risk Factors in Adults, Shiraz, Iran.
[摘要] Background:LeukemiaisoneofthemostcommoncancersinIran.Fewstudieshavefocusedonidentifyingthecausativefactorsforleukemia.Thisimpliesthenecessityofthiscase-controlstudy.Thisstudywasundertakentoidentifypossibleriskfactorsassociatedwithleukemia.MaterialsandMethods:Inacase-controlstudymatchedbyageandsex.100leukemicpatientsadmittedinhematologywardsinNamazeeHospitalaffiliatedtoShirazUniversityofMedicalScienceswereenrolled.Controlgroupcompromised100hospitalizedpatientswhosediseaseswereunrelatedtoleukemia,andanother100individualsselectedfromthegeneralpopulation.Questionnaireswerecompletedbytrainedmedicalstudents.ResultsandDiscussion:Themostsignificantriskfactorswere:placeofbirthandresidenceduringthepast10years,jobsrelatedtoagriculture/animalhusbandry,contactwithchemicalproducts,historyofcontactwithanimals,familyhistoryofcanceramong1stdegreerelatives,andcigarettesmokingformorethan10years.Conclusion:Thisepidemiologicstudyhasencounteredseveralrestrictionsthathadeffectonourstatistics.Futurestudiesshouldbeconductedtoachieveamoreaccurateresult.
