Interventional Cardiology in Shiraz Hospitals during Year 2006.

[摘要] Background:Cardiovasculardisease,especiallycoronaryarterydisease,isthemajorcauseofdeathinIranafterage44.Revascularizationprocedureshavepivotalroleinimprovingqualityoflifeinthesepatients.DatafromcardiacinterventioninShirazHospitalscanbecomparedwithothercenterstoimproveourfacultiesandequipments,bettermanagementofourfutureprogramsandrankingofShirazcatheterizationcentersdegreeamongothercitiesinIranandMiddleEast.MaterialsandMethods:anannualsurvey(year2006)oncardiacinterventionprocedureswasperformedinFaghihiandNamaziHospitalsofShirazUniversityofMedicalScience,DenaHospital,OrdibeheshtHospital,ShirazCentralHospital(MRI),andKowsarHeartHospital.Randomly832angiogramswereselectedandanalyzed.Results:1)Duringyear2006,11999diagnosticangiographiesand2267angioplastieswereperformedofwhichcoronarystentingwasperformedin99.48%.2)Leftanteriordescendingcoronaryarteryisthemostfrequentcoronaryinvolvementbysignificantlesion,followedbyleftcircumflexcoronaryartery(oppositetoyear2005).3)By3.7%reductioninnormalangiograms,wecanconcludethatpatientselectionforcatheterizationwasmorerationalthanyear2005.4)CABG(CoronaryArteryBypassGraft)isthemostrecommendationbyfacultiesofthesehospitals,butlessthanyear2005(36.7%to31.3%).5)PTCAproceduresweredevelopedby2.6%incomparisontoyear2005.6)Drug-elutingstentandbare-metalstentwereplacedin53.70%(40.7%inyear2005)and46.30%ofpatients,respectively.7)Peripheralarterycatheterizationswereperformedrathermorethanlastyear.Conclusion:Itwasconcludedthatdespitecoronarystentingremainsthefastestgrowingprocedureininterventionalcardiology,inoursocietyCABGistheleadingchoiceoftreatment.Although,angioplastygrowinginShiraz,sinceyear2005,isacceptable.
