Effects of Massage Therapy and Muscle Relaxation on Glycosylated Hemoglobin in Diabetic Children.
[摘要] Introduction:Fromthetimeofrecognitionofdiabetesmellitustonow,differentmanagementmethodshavebeenrecommended.themajormedicalcareareinsulintogetherwithdietandexercise.Despitethisregularmanagement,manycomplementaryinterventionshadbeenusedthatcouldimplymassagetherapyandprogressivemusclerelaxation,botharethespecialnursingtech-niques.Objectives:TheobjectiveofthisstudyistodeterminetheeffectsofmassagetherapyandprogressivemusclerelaxationtherapyontheglycosylatedhemoglobinlevelindiabeticchildrenregisteredinMetabolismandEndocrinologyCenterofIsfahanUniversityofMedicalSciences.MaterialsandMethods:Inaquasiexperimentalstudy75diabeticchildrenparticipatedinthreegroups(themassagegroup,theprogressivemusclerelaxationgroupandthecontrolgroup).Glycosy-latedhemoglobinmeasuredatthebeginningofthestudyandalsoattheendofthestudyinallsubjects.Thegroupswerematchedforgenderandage.Otherconfoundingfactorssuchaseducationallevelandjoboftheparents,insulindosageanddurationofdiabeteswerecontrolledduringtheprocessofdatamanagement.Descriptiveinferentialstatisticmethods(mean,SD,pairedTtestandvariance)wereusedforDataanalysisbyusingSPSSpackage.Pvalue<0.05wasconsideredsignificant.Results:Findingshowednosignificantdifferencefordurationofdiabetes.Alsotheaverageintakeofinsulinwasnotdifferentbetweenthegroups.MassagetherapyandprogressivemusclerelaxationwereassociatedwithsignificantdecreasesinHbA1Ccomparedwiththecontrolgroup.ThemassagegroupdemonstratedmoredecreaseinHbA1Clevelthantheother..IntheinterventiongroupstherewassignificantrelationshipbetweenthedecreaseofHbA1ClevelandthepreinterventionHbA1Clevel.Discussion:Resultsshowedthatbothtechniquesareeffectivetodecreasebloodglucoselevelindiabeticchildren.SothesetechniquescouldberecommendedtodiabeticchildrenandtheirparentsforoptimallongtermimprovementinHbA1C.Furtherresearchisnecessarytodeterminethelongtermeffectsofthesetechniques.
