Stroke Awareness in Two Rural Counties in Mississippi, USA.
[摘要] Mississippihasoneofthehigheststrokemortalityratesinthenation.Thispaperpresentresultsof2005and2006surveysundertakeninaninterventionandcontrolcountyinruralMississippi.Arandom-digit-dial(RDD)telephonesurveyswereconductedonadults18andoldersampledfromthecivilian,non-institutionalizedpopulationsofWarren(control)andWashington(intervention)countiesbeforeandafterimplementinga6-monthlongstrokeawarenesseducationalcampaigninWashingtonCounty.Theana-lyzedresultsindicatethatresponseratestoseveralofthequestionsincreasedaftertheinterventioninWashingtonCounty,theresultsofthissmallsamplesurveydonotshowsufficientevidencetosupportanyeffectoftheintervention.Asignificantlessonlearnedfromthiseffortisthatamorespecifictargetpopula-tionmustbeselectedforintervention,andmuchtailoredmessagesandappropriatemediamustalsobeidentifiedandimplemented.
