Role of N-Acetylglucosamine in Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions- regulated Fila- mentous Growth and Protein Glycosylation in C. albicans.
[摘要] GlucoseorN-Acetylglucosamineinducesimilarfilamentousgrowthandaspecificcalciumandmagnesium-dependentintracellularglycoproteinpatterninC.albicansat37°Cinvitro.Bothfilamentgrowthanditsassociatedglycoproteinpatternareinhibitedbycalciumions.Theaboveinhibitioncanbereversedbymagnesiumions,thoughonlyinN-Acetylglucosamine-butnotinglucose-treatedcells.Ourdatashowthatincontrasttoglucose,N-Acetylglucosaminemorethanbeingonlyacarbonsource,itisakeyfactorforfilamentousgrowthandintracellu-larproteinglycosylationtooccur,andthus,itmayeffecttheinteractionofC.albicanswithitshostinacalcium-andmagnesium-dependentmanner.
