The Effect of Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields on Microleakage of Amalgam Restorations: An in Vitro Study
[摘要] Background:Previousstudieshavereportedanincreaseinthemercuryreleasefromdentalamalgamrestorations,followingexposuretoelectromagneticfieldsgeneratedbysourcessuchasmobilephonesandmagneticresonanceimaging(MRI).IthasalsobeenshownthatMRIincreasesmicroleakageofamalgamrestorations.Inthisstudy,Helmholtzcoilsareusedforgeneratingpulsedelectromagneticfields(PEMF).Objectives:ThepurposeofthisstudywastoevaluatetheeffectofPEMFsonmicroleakageofamalgamrestorations,usingapairofHelmholtzcoils.PatientsandMethods:StandardizedclassVcavitieswerepreparedonthefacialsurfacesof46non-cariousextractedhumanpremolars.Then,thesampleswererandomlydividedintoexperimentalandcontrolgroups,eachcontaining23teeth.Theexperimentalgroupwasexposedtotheuniformmagneticfieldsgeneratedbyapairhelmholtzcoils.Themagneticfieldstrengthatthecentralpointofthetwocoilswas0.1mT.Allspecimenswereplacedin2%basicfuchsinsolution.Thentheteethweresectioned,examinedunderastereomicroscope,andscoredformicroleakageaccordingtothedegreeofdyepenetration.Results:Therewasnosignificantdifferencebetweenthetwogroupsregardingthemicroleakagescore.Conclusions:TheresultsofthepresentstudysuggestthatPEMFexposuredoesnothaveadverseeffectsonmicroleakageofamalgamrestorations.
