Biochemical Tests in the Investigation of Diarrhoea

[摘要] The idea behind this thesis developed during my employment at the Gastroenterology Laboratory at the Royal Infirmary Glasgow. The Laboratory is one of very few that has been established over the years as a centre for gastrointestinal research and also routine gastrointestinal investigations. In comparison to the 'high tech' biochemical investigations of other organs, the evaluation of gut function is decidedly 'low tech', frequently involving cumbersome tests, time-consuming analyses, and interpretative difficulties. This project concerns itself with the potential role of the clinical biochemistry laboratory in one aspect of gastrointestinal tests, namely the investigation of chronic diarrhoea.
