Electron Microscopy Studies of Insoluble Inorganic Materials Grown in Gels
[摘要] The fascinating morphologies of metal oxides, oxyhydroxides, carbonates, silicates, and metals grown in gels have been observed in the present study. Morphologies resulting from some metal compounds grown in mobile solutions have been also studied for the purpose of comparison. Silica, carrageenan and mixed gel were widely used as particle growth media. Several alkali sources have been used as the precipitating agent. The colloidal particles from metal ions (Ag1+, Al3+, Ba2+, Ca2+, Cd2+, Co2+, Cu2+, Fe3+, Mg2+, Mn2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Pd2+, Pt2+, Sr2+ and Zn2+) grown in gels were observed and their morphologies and diffraction patterns studied by transmission (and in some cases, scanning) electron microscopy. Hydrolysis of urea and hexamine solutions were used for homogeneous precipitation of metal salt solutions in silica gel at higher temperature (8.5-90
