Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs and Postoperative Analgesia

[摘要] The non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are being promoted for use as postoperative analgesics, and diclofenac is already used widely for that purpose. Ketorolac is a new drug and early reports have indicated that it may be useful after surgery. The advantages claimed for these drugs are that they are effective analgesics which do not produce sedation, respiratory or gastrointestinal depression, or dependence. Unfortunately, NSAIDs do have important side-effects because they inhibit tissue prostaglandin production.
