Thermodynamics of Transiently Pumped CO2 Gas Laser Plasmas
[摘要] Pulsed CO2 lasers pumped by a self-sustained discharge have become very important and practical tools for materials processing. A high mean power pulsed CO2 laser overcomes the instantaneous power intensity limitations inherent in CW operation which restricts performance, especially in metal machining. Design requirements include: simplicity of construction, reliability, high efficiency, low operating voltage, uniformity of the output beam, and the ability to vary the output parameters over a wide range. A major aim of this dissertation is to provide a fundamental physical understanding and data that will enable effective design.
