EVIDENCE FOR THE INCLUSION OF CONTROLLING ELEMENTS WITHIN THE STRUCTURAL GENE AT THE WAXY LOCUS IN MAIZE

[摘要] Minimal limits for the structural gene at the waxy locus have been set by investigations of the protein product of the gene. An altered protein is produced by four of the waxy mutants including B3 , a controlling-element mutation. All are similar to wild type in molecular weight as determined by electrophoresis in SDS acrylamide gels. At least three of the five wx controlling-element mutations studied have been shown to lie within the limits of the structural gene.
