How can the solo female performer be rendered present through absence?

[摘要] Through both practical and textual research, this thesis explores whether it is possible to be both present and a presence in performance time and space through absence.Within it, I offer a discussion of the concepts of presence and absence, and what they mean in a theatre/performance context, before questioning how present the female physical body can be to an audience, when seen or perceived through a screen, as a shadow form.
