Hemispheric Forecast With the Primitive Equation Model

[摘要]  This preliminary report describes a model of 5 days forecast now being developed. The model uses the primitive equations which are expressed by the Cartesian coordinates on the stereographic projection plane and by the σ-coordinate in the vertical.  Physical processes involved in the model are almost similar to those in the operational forecast model at JMA, except for some differences in the parameterization of physical processes. A case of numerical experiment of four days forecast is analysed.
