On the Irregular Propagation of Seismic Waves in the Kwantô-district

[摘要] This problem was already qualitatively investigated by Dr. K. Wadati. (Geophys. Mag. Vol. VI, No.3.) In this paper, however, is treated quantitatively the same subject from the observational data of many earthquakes occurred in the Kwantô-district. The result obtained gives the same tendency as that given by him, since the phenomena of irregular propagation are affirmed to be closely related to the distribution of gravity anomaly. But the deviated values of arrival time of P-wave obtaind in this investigation are tolerably small compared with those formerly obtained by Dr. Wadati in his 3rd paper of “Deep and Shallow Earthquakes” (Geophys. Mag. Vol. IV, No.4.) With regard to the S-phase, it is untouched in the present case.
