The Role of Cell-to-Cell Interactions in the Suppression of the Transformed Phenotype
[摘要] The growth and aberrant morphology of certain transformed cells can be suppressed when cultured in the presence of excess resting normal cells. This well established phenomenon has been correlated with the presence of heterologous gap junctional intercellular communication, (GJIC) between the two cell types and the inhibition observed may provide an important defence against cancer. This thesis describes a study into this potentially important form of growth inhibition.
