EFFECT OF DINITROPHENOL AND FASTING ON CARRAGEENIN INDUCED INFLAMMATION
[摘要] References(14)The precise mechanisms of action of anti-inflammatory agents is not fully understood. Uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation by many of these agents has been considered as a possible mechanism for their anti-inflammatory property (1-4). Hyperthermia also inhibits inflammation induced by phlogistic agent (carrageenin) (5). 2-4-Dinitrophenol (DNP) is a well known uncoupler of oxidative phosphorylation and increases the body temperature (6-7). An attempt has been made to study the effect of DNP on carrageenin induced edema in rats. Since fasting also interferes with normal energy metabolism like DNP, the effect of fasting on carrageenin induced edema in rats was also studied.
