The Study of Small GTP-Binding Proteins in Trypanosoma brucei
[摘要] Very little is known about cellular signalling pathways involved in the regulation of growth in trypanosomes. In higher eukaryotes, members of the ras GTPase superfamily of proteins are involved in signalling pathways which regulate cellular growth and differentiation. Ras genes have been well conserved through evolution and can be found in a range of organisms, such as the slime moulds, yeasts and man. The aims of this thesis are to investigate ras subfamily GTPases in T. brucei and to develop tools necessary for the study of the role of these monomeric GTP binding proteins in trypanosomal growth regulation.
