Second Order Operators on a Compact Lie Group

[摘要] We describe the structure of the space of second order ellipticdifferential operators on a homogenous bundle over a compact Liegroup. Subject to a technical condition, these operators arehomotopic to the Laplacian. The technical condition is furtherinvestigated, with examples given where it holds and others whereit does not. Since many spectral invariants are also homotopyinvariants, these results provide information about the invariantsof these operators.
