Malignant Mesothelioma: Canadian Perspective and Research Directions

[摘要] The incidence of malignant mesothelioma in Canada has increased dramatically over the last forty years due to work-related asbestos exposure.Treatment options are limited.Although chemotherapy is now an accepted standard in the management of advanced disease, there is uncertainty about the roles of radical surgery and radiation.A symposium was held in Vancouver, British Columbia in March 2007 to review the current approach to malignant mesothelioma in Canada, and to discuss development of a national clinical research strategy.
