Sperm Health in the Aging Male

[摘要] As couples initiate their reproductive processes later and later in life and as many men remarry younger women and then begin to have second families, it is not unusual to see men in their 6th to 7th decades of life contemplate fatherhood. One concern that comes to mind is whether the testes from these “middle aged” and “elderly” men have the same reproductive capability as those in younger men and whether the incidence of chromosomal abnormalities related to the sperm is increased. This is not an uncommon question by patients themselves, who ask their fertility specialist, “Are my sperm healthy?” and “Will my sperm induce a birth defect?”
