Search for Continuous Gravitational Waves from Globular Cluster NGC6544 Using Barycentric Resampling.
[摘要] Gravitational wave detectors should soon open an entirely new window on the universe. These waves, predicted by General Relativity, radiate from systems possessing accelerating gravitational quadrupoles, such as black holes, neutron stars, and the universe itself during the Big Bang. The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) and its partner collaborations are seeking the first direct detection of gravitational waves. In this thesis, I describe a search for continuous gravitational waves from neutron stars in the nearby globular cluster NGC6544 undertaken in LIGO data with the use of a barycentric resampling algorithm which greatly reduces computational cost. No gravitational wave signals were found, but the search set 95% upper limits on strain amplitude (lowest: 6.0 X 10^{-25} at 170 Hz) and ellipticity (8.5 X 10^{-6} at 670 Hz). The search program developed for this work will be used extensively in future searches of data from Advanced LIGO.
