Quantitative Passive Hemagglutination: Adaptation of the Cell Migration Technique to Measurement of Antibodies to E. Coli
[摘要] A simple and sensitive technique for quantitating red cell agglutinins has been adapted for the measurement of antibodies to the O antigen of E. coli 0111. The procedure involves centrifugation of 0111-sensitized red cells to packed pellets in sealed capillary tubes. The distance migrated by the packed cells down the inclined surface of the tubes was related to the agglutinin content of the serum. The technique is highly quantitative while possessing the specificity and sensitivity of the tube tests. It is adaptable to quantitative inhibitions. A statistical evaluation of the data indicated a linear relationship between cell migration and antiserum dilution.
