[摘要] Titrations of hemolytic complement in mice of various inbred and non-inbred stocks show large differences. The following strains and strain pairs are of particular interest either because of the high levels or the hemolytic complement or because genetic evidence implies allelism at few genetic loci suffice to explain the phenotypic differences in total hemolytic complement. 1) A strain derived from a cross between a non-inbred CF-1 mouse and the B10.D2 old line breeds true for high levels of complement equivalent to the highest levels measured in the non-inbred population—averaging 400 C′CH50 units as determined by our test. 2) The strain pair C57BL10 averages 35 C′H50 units. 3) The strains pair C3H/SN and CBA, as well as C3H and new line hemolytic complement, in a manner suggesting simple Mendelian factors determining the differences. The chemical bases for the differences are as yet entirely unknown.
