[摘要] Previous work had raised the possibility of functional interdependence between C′5, C′6 and C′7; in the absence of C′6 and C′7, the C′5 reaction was inefficient and the reaction product was extremely labile at 37°C. Further analysis using isolated and 125I-labeled C′5 showed that formation of EAC′1a,4,oxy2a,3,5 from EAC′1a,4,oxy2a,3 has the following characteristics: 1) Formation began immediately on addition of C′5, increased with time to reach a maximum and then declined. 2) The product was unstable, i.e., the reactivity of cell-bound C′5 was lost with a half-life of 7 to 9 min at 30°C and 2 to 3 min at 37°C. 3) Loss of cell-bound C′5 hemolytic activity was not caused by release of bound C′5, which dissociated from the cell complex with a half-life of 2 to 3 hr at 30°C indicating that bound C′5 exists in active (C′5a) and inactive (C′5i) forms. 4) Dissociated C′5 was found to be of macromolecular size.
