A Sandwich Technique for the Detection of Myxovirus-Infected Cells Using a Fluorescein-Conjugated Antibody Directed against a Glycoprotein Substrate (Fetuin)

[摘要] A two layer “sandwich” technique for the detection of macromolecular synthesis in myxovirus-infected cells has been carried out using a small glycoprotein substrate, fetuin, followed by an outer layer of antifetuin antibody labeled with fluorescein isothiocyanate. This method appears to offer a high degree of sensitivity and permits one to use a single fluorescent label for the identification of myxovirus-infected cells.
