Serological Studies of the Reptilia

[摘要] This work had for its primary purpose, a study of the hemagglutinins and hemagglutinogens of alligator-blood, and their relationship to the hemagglutinins and hemagglutinogens of human blood. Fifty specimens of a single species, Alligator mississippiensis , were used in this study.Isohemagglutination could not be demonstrated by cross matching the serum and cells of all the specimens of blood examined.Agglutinogens similar to the human A, B, M, and N factors could not be demonstrated in alligator-erythrocytes.It was found that all of the 40 specimens of alligator-serum examined for hemagglutinins contained at least 3 agglutinins: a species agglutinin for all human cells, an agglutinin similar to the alpha agglutinin of human serum, an agglutinin similar to the beta agglutinin of human serum.
