The Practical Assay of Type III Antipneumococcal Rabbit Serum by the Mouse-Protective Test

[摘要] A type III antipneumococcal serum may be standardized in Felton units by the mouse-protective test.The potency of the serum may be verified by using the Muench method of conducting and calculating the test.A serum standardized in this manner may be used as control in the assay of unknown type III sera and concentrate.Conducting such assays on the 1:10-unit level and using White's formula give reliable and reproducible results.The ratio between mouse-protective units and antibody-nitrogen is greater with serum of high potency, plasma and concentrated antibody-solution than with material of low potency.
